photoblog image Gundalow Piscataqua

Tourists enjoy an afternoon on Little Bay on the deck of Piscataqua,  a replica of the centuries old Gundalow.  (The flat bottomed Gundalow with lateen sail was designed to move heavy cargo, such as bricks and timber, throughout the Great Bay estuary and to Portsmouth, NH via the Piscataqua River.) The lateen sail, which was developed during the early Roman Empire, allows the sail and mast to be dropped when the Gundalow passes beneath a bridge.

Great shot! Interesting info about the boat!!
Doug: Thanks Elizabeth, between wildlife, weather and vessels, there's usually something of interest for a photographer in the Little Bay area.
